Description

It is envisaged that 15 participants from different parts of Africa, constituting of largely early career PhD holders and post-graduate students, will be hosted at the University of Zimbabwe for 5 days receiving participants from different parts of Africa. These participants should prove that there are already in a University system. The workshop/summer school is intended at building capacity for current lecturers and doctoral and master students researching on African economic history or taking modules in this area. We envisage the summer school as one way of accelerating and elevating conversations around capacity building, mentorship, mutual exchanges etc etc. The participating students will be given the opportunity to learn from and interact with leading scholars in African economic history. While the summer school will be intensive and last for only five days participants will receive continuous follow up via online video platforms and will have to submit by email at least one paper, to mentors, in which they apply the knowledge they would have acquired during the summershool. Participants will be identified by merit based on their academic performance and statement of purpose.
