Description
WEBINAR INFORMATION
Part of the research agenda for the Young Scholars Initiative’s (YSI) Liquidity Project Financial Market Infrastructure (LPFMI) includes innovations in settlement, clearing and financial infrastructure. Stablecoins (cryptocurrency designed to be stable in value) are an excellent example of the nascent innovation that has come about in financial technology that is relevant to modern liquidity problems in financial markets.
This webinar will walk through an overview of Stablecoins while covering the basics of their classification and design. Major topics we plan to touch on include:
• Emerging economic theory of stablecoins as an asset or liability
• Various stablecoin structures as financial instruments, currency IOU’s, and more
• Current emerging use cases in the market
LPFMI INFORMATION
As some of you know, LPFMI is concerning itself around liquidity questions in financial market infrastructure (FMI) and is therefore open to all questions regarding
i. Liquidity problems at FMIs – this is the core of this project
ii. Liquidity problems in the financial system – this could be the next LP focus
iii. FMI problems in general – this includes innovation such as blockchain / DLT
