Session 3: the roles of the ECB and the EIB

This session will explore and evaluate the roles of the ECB and the EIB in the European Green Transition.

After a brief summary of the readings as well as recap on the role of these institutions in the EU, we aim to focus our discussion on the following questions:

• should these institutions take part?
• if so, how should these institutions participate in the transition?
• are climate mandates political? should they be linked to or independent from political commitments?
• if the ECB and EIB should play a role in the transtition, are their current actions suitable?
