Call for abstracts: Dimensions of Poverty Conference

CALL FOR PAPERS – Dimensions of Poverty Conference and Webinar

Dear all

The Philosophy of Economics and the Development Economics working groups are collaborating with the organisers of the conference Dimensions of Poverty to take place on 7-9 of June, 2017, in Berlin, to offer YSI scholars the opportunity to present their work. The conference has a long list of fabulous keynote speakers and a few slots available for paper presentations. We invite YSI scholars to submit their abstracts, following the conference submission requirements and deadline. You may also be considered for a YSI side event to the conference in Berlin and/or a YSI webinar series taking place before the conference (April/May)––see below.

Submission deadline: January 31st 2017.

YSI participation in Berlin

If you wish to attend the Berlin conference, please submit an abstract to the main conference following conference instructions here. In addition, an email should be sent to development@youngscholarsinitiative.org, with the subject line BERLIN CONFERENCE SUBMISSION providing the same information. Please indicate whether you would like to present at one of the webinars in case you are not accepted for the main conference. Both the main conference and YSI have limited funding for YSI scholars. More information shall follow soon.

The webinar series

We are organizing a webinar series on the dimensions of poverty, where one young scholar will be selected to present along with one keynote speaker, per meeting. The keynote speakers of the online meeting will be confirmed in due time. If you are submitting only to the webinar series, please mark the email subject with WEBINAR SUBMISSION. The online meeting will give the chance to present their work to those who submit abstracts but that due to time restrictions at the conference do not make it to the final selection. Interested participants who already know they can’t make it to Berlin but who’d still like to participate in the online meeting are also welcome to submit their abstracts.

We are also discussing the possibility of working group meetings in Berlin. More information on this will follow after submission deadline.

Please do not hesitate to contact Melissa Vergara Fernández ysi@mvergarafernandez.nl (Philosophy group) or Ingrid Harvold Kvangraven kvani263@newschool.edu (Development group) should you have any questions.

All the best
