16:00 – 17:30 UCT Tackling Regional Challenges
Mentor: Danilo Spinola | Postdoctoral Fellow, United Nations University (UNU-MERIT)
Latin America is a highly unequal region. This inequality manifests differently, and to different degrees in various parts of the continent. This variation requires us to focus our attention on specific instances of inequality, and avoid generalizations. Young scholars will present what they are currently working on, and receive feedback from peers and/or the working group’s mentor.

17:00 – 18:30 UCT Macroeconomics and external constraints in LA
Mentor: Pablo Bortz | Professor and Researcher, UNSAM and CONICET-UNO
The external sector often hinders economic growth in the Latin American region. This is why is it important to keep on developing theoretical and empirical thinking to find new ideas for old problems. Young scholars will present what they are currently working on, and receive feedback from peers and/or the working group’s mentor.

What discussions and debates have arisen? What papers have left an impression? Tune in to get up to date on the State of the Field, and proceed to brainstorm how your interests may plug in. Learn how you can turn your curiosities into a YSI Project in your Working Group. Join and flesh out your ideas (however big or small) with help from those who did it before.
