“Frontiers of finance: fintech, crypto and green finance”

Targeted to young scholars working on these topics that want to participate in the 6th Workshop of the Politics of Money network, entitled “The Politics of Money in the 2020s: W(h)ither Global Finance?”

In this session on “Frontiers of finance: fintech, crypto and green finance”, we will explore the specificities and continuities of new developments within global finance focusing on the relations between digital technologies and/or ecological challenges and finance. Although to some extent these new trends are at the margin of global finance given the size of assets under management, they inform, shape and could reinforce or transform existing power relations within global finance. Being these emerging topics within the political economy of finance, there is space to think of them as potential topics for future collaborations. This session will particularly welcome young scholars working on these topics with a focus on the global south or working on the interplay of global north and south.

This session will be an opportunity to introduce young scholars to the Politics of Money network and to expand the topics so far discussed. For YSI, this is a great opportunity to connect young scholars working on these topics with leading academics on the field.
