The Young Scholars Initiative (YSI)’s Latin America and Complexity Economics Working Groups, in association with the XVIII Latin Iberoamerican Conference of the Association of Technological Management (ALTEC 2019) event and the Latin American Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence Building Systems (LALICS) would like to invite young scholar to submit their work to the PhD Forum ALTEC/LALICS/YSI.
This activity is part of the activities of the ALTEC 2019 event, organized by the Pontificia Bolivariana University (UPB), Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB), Universidad Nacional de Colombia (UNAL), Universidad de Antioquia (UdeA), Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano (ITM), Universidad EAFIT and Institución Universitaria CEIPA, which is going to take place between the 31st October to 1st November of 2019 in Medellín/Colombia.
The PhD Forum ALTEC/LALICS/YSI offers an opportunity for young scholars, who are writing their thesis in the area of Technology Management and Innovation, to present the advancements of their research in a friendly and stimulating environment, receiving feedback and benefiting from professors and researchers with extensive experience, familiar with the proposed research topic.

● How to apply

1. Contents
   A single PDF document should be prepared with the following content:
   a) A cover page with the title of the thesis project, the name of the PhD student and the thesis advisor, the PhD program, the institution, the country and the date.
   b) An extended summary of the thesis project from 5 to 8 pages, with: a brief introduction; the problem; the hypothesis; the general objective and the specific objectives; the methodology and results to date.
   c) Letter of conformity of the thesis advisor in relation to the student's participation in the PhD Forum ALTEC/LALICS/YSI 2019.
2. Sheet format
   • Paper size should be letter (21.59 cm x 27.94 cm).
   • The margins must be 2.5 cm on each edge of the page (top, bottom, left and right).
   • Page numbering should be done using Arabic numerals and sequentially at the bottom right of the page.
3. Text Format
   • The paper should be written in English, in a formal and appropriate way in scientific prose.
   • The paper should include in sections and subsections, if necessary.
   • The extension must be 5 to 8 pages, including references.
   • Tables, figures, and graphs must be called from the text and consecutively numbered, with the title centered on the top and the source centered on the bottom.
   • All text should be written in simple space.
   • The Times New Roman font should be used.
4. References
   • For citations and references, use the current version of the APA standard.
5. Submission for evaluation
   • The paper should be sent in PDF format in only one file.

● Acceptance
The major prerequisites for acceptance are completeness and relatedness to the required topics. Submitted work will most likely be considered if it is fully readable and does not lack substantial sections.
Financial support is available, although resources are scarce. Please indicate the need for funding in the application. In the case of acceptance, organizers will contact with details about the total amount granted.

● Event
The event consists in parallel sessions and Knowledge Station. In the parallel sessions, young scholars presents part of their thesis to their peers and to seniors mentors, who would be responsible to give feedback to the students, reading previously the papers and raising comments during presentations. The Knowledge Station consist in a horizontal debate including young scholars, early career researchers, and senior mentors about a specific contemporary issue. The debate is based on a previously read text, and by a brief presentation by a keynote speaker.
