Economic History Working Group invites applications from young scholars for GSU Spring Conference on Global and Economic History to be held on 13-14 April 2019 at Georgia State University's campus in downtown Atlanta. This conference is an interdisciplinary meeting to bring together young scholars and experts in the fields of economic and world history. It also aims to facilitate conversation among participants on research themes/topics, methodologies and approaches, archives and sources, and global connections and comparisons. The theme of the conference is "Connecting Local and Global Economic Histories. This year's keynote speaker will be Dr. Şevket Pamuk, Professor of Economics and Economic History at Bogaziçi (Bosphorus) University.
Those interested in participating should let the organizers know by January 15, 2019 by submitting a one-page abstract describing the scholar’s proposal by that date along with a short CV to one or both of the organizers’ emails below. A full paper will be expected by March 25, 2018. There is no registration fee, but attendees will need to register online before the conference (link to be provided at a later date). The organizers will be able to supply a small number of travel subsidies to graduate students and/or early career scholars thanks to the gracious support of the Economic History Working Group of the Young Scholars Initiative (Institute for New Economic Thinking). Those interested in applying for subsidies should indicate this in both their email to the organizers and in the paper/panel proposal. We cannot provide full travel funding in most cases, and we cannot guarantee funding to all applicants.
If you have any question (particularly regarding the abstract submission!), please contact Dr. Kim, Seung Woo (kim.seungwoo82@gmail.com).
