Change Finance Forum & Convivium 2018 Call for Papers

The Finance, Law, and Economics Working Group is delighted to advertise the following upcoming events:

  • "Change Finance Forum", event organized by Finance Watch that will take place in Brussels on the 4th and 5th of December. Its aim is to gather a wider range of stakeholders including civil society organizations, academics, researchers, pioneers in sustainable business and finance, policymakers, activists and other relevant actors to initiate a much-needed public debate over the purpose of finance and its rule over society.

Proposals should be submitted with a suggested title, author’s name and affiliation and an abstract of approximately 500 words to Giulia Porino (giulia.porino@finance-watch.org) by 19th November 2017. Authors will be informed of the final decision by 26th November. The choice of proposals will seek to ensure a balanced representation of the various aspects of the conference theme. Young scholars, such as PhD students and post-docs, are
encouraged to apply. For more information about the Call for Research Proposals, please see the attached file.

  • "Accounting, Economics, and Law", SASE Research Network Conference. The journal "Accounting, Economics, and Law: A Convivium" and its editors are proud to announce the call for submissions for their research network No. P included in the SASE 2018 Annual Meeting, to be held in Kyoto (Japan), next June 23-25:

SASE is an international, inter-disciplinary organization with members in over 50 countries on five continents. The academic disciplines represented in SASE include economics, sociology, political science, organization studies, management accounting, psychology, law, history, and philosophy. The membership of SASE also includes business people and policy makers in governments and international organizations.

Convened by the editors of the journal, this network covers matters and initiatives of interest for the journal. Institutional design, rules and social norms are critical to the working of organizations in economy and society. Financial, economic, social, and legal processes and languages play an influential and largely neglected role in this working, and raise broad societal and global concerns. They lie at the heart of control, governance and regulation. The network explores their influence in the context of social, cultural, and political economy and history. It fosters disciplinary cross-fertilization, novel investigations and institutional analyses of their role in the dynamic relationship between individuals, organizations and institutions. Among others, issues of control, valuation, finance (and financialization), accountability, responsibility, governance, and regulation will be central to the concerns and development of the network. Methodological tolerance and pluralism are also essential to the overarching purpose of enhancing our understanding of the phenomena of interest. The research network is looking for proposals concerning paper communications, sessions, network conferences (sequences of sessions), and book review symposia (‘authors meet critics’ sessions). Formal submissions should be done through the SASE website since 7th November 2017 and before January 8, 2018, choosing to submit to the Research Network No. P: https://sase.org/

Apart from the abovementioned application procedure, those who are interested in participating in this event are invited to email the corresponding abstracts to the Finance, Law, and Economics Working Group coordinators as well (Christopher and Cecilia: fle@youngscholarsinitiative.org)

Should you have any further questions regarding these events, do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your interest and attention!
