An exciting opportunity for scholars in Asia researching co-operatives!
The Young Scholars Initiative (YSI), will be hosting the YSI Asia Convening, in collaboration with University of Da Nang, in Da Nang, Vietnam from 6-9 May, 2019. We have an inspiring line-up with Keynotes from Jonathan Ostry, Danny Quah, and Peter Frankopan.
The Cooperatives Working Group’s sessions will explore the potential, sustainability and factors for resilience that can be attained through the cooperative model. What are the factors that facilitate cooperative success? What lessons can be learned from the past to inform new innovative approaches to dealing with the economic issues of today? What are the lessons from Asia that can help strengthen the global co-operative movement?
Our mentors will be Dr. Ha Professor, Head, Business Programme, Singapore University of Social Sciences and Dr. Altman, Professor of Behavioural and Institutional Economics, Dean and Head, Newcastle Business School, University of Newcastle.
Particularly salient topics include:
- Innovations in internal governance
- Resilience and sustainability of the cooperative model
- Issues in member commitment
- Cooperative education
- Cooperatives and changing labour relations
- Cooperatives and big data, platform cooperativism
Selected participants travelling from within Asia qualify for partial or full travel support.
