Call for Papers – Pre-Conference YSI Workshop @ ENEP
“Fiscal Austerity and Economic Reforms in the 21 st Century”
The Young Scholars Initiative (YSI) is glad to announce a new call for papers. The Keynesian Economics, Latin America and States and Markets working groups are organizing a workshop at the National Encounter of Political Economy (ENEP), on June 2 – 5, in Salvador, Brazil.
Economic reforms driven by fiscal austerity measures are taking place all around the world. To address this important theme, we have invited Professor Massimo Pivetti of University of Rome – Sapienza to be the main speaker of the workshop. Professor Julia Braga of Federal Fluminense University (UFF) will be the debater. Besides the lecture, selected young scholars will have the opportunity to present their papers and receive comments.
To Apply
A total of six (06) young scholars will be selected to attend the workshop. Accommodation for the whole ENEP and partial travel stipends will be provided to the selected young scholars. The YSI does not cover costs with meals nor registration fee for ENEP. Submissions can be made into two modalities:
1) those interested in presenting their work must submit an expanded abstract (up to 2000 words) plus a motivation letter.
2) those interested in attending but do not want to present their paper must submit only a motivation letter.
Three Young scholars will be selected in each of these two modalities.
Papers may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish or English. We welcome empirical, theoretical and/or case studies associated to (but not exclusively):
- Tax Reform
- Public Spending Rules
- Pension Reform
- Rules and limits for public debt
- Privatizations
Presentation at the workshop must be in English. Submission deadline is** 1 st of April** and must be made by filling out this form.
Those selected to present their work must submitt the full paper until 5 th of May. For more information, please check the workshop page.
