About

Research questions

  • Is correct the conceptualization of the state as “intervening” in the economy, considering both “the state” and “economy” as two separate spheres?
  • How to conceptualize the division between “public” and “private” spheres?
  • Are there only two types or models of State: the “liberal” (which does not “intervene” in the economy) and the “benefactor” (that does “intervene”)?
  • How modern states should approach economic policy oriented to heterogeneous population groups within the same territory.
  • What are the characteristics of the “developmental” state?
  • How to explain the global division of labor? Why is there a division between developed and underdeveloped countries? What are the characteristics of each?
  • What explains the dependency or financial subordination of underdeveloped countries? What strategies can global south states generate in order to avoid the reproduction of neo-colonial dynamics?
  • What are the possibilities of economic development in the Global South in the XXI century?
  • How do big businesses and monopolies relate to national states in the world economy?
  • What is the role played by core countries’ states in the emergence and spread of intellectual monopoly?
